All Saints Day Traditions, Ghosts, and Prayers for the Dead

As kids we used to enjoy visiting the North Public Cemetery during All Saints Day because of the huge clan reunion, food, fun, and carnival. We stayed there from 5 pm to 3 am the next day. We lighted candles, gathered melted candle debris from our candles as well as from those lighted on other tombs, and said prayers for the dead.

Now that we're grownups (and now that I know the truth from the bible), we still visit the cemetery (this time in Himlayang Pilipino) to see how the grave site is, the maintenance, and to reminisce times with our departed parents--but not to pray for them.

Save the Dead?

People think that not praying for the dead will mean their suffering in Purgatory or in hell. They think their prayers would somehow promote the souls of their dead loved ones and be saved from suffering. There's nothing like that in the Word of God. God's Word says the kind of life you lived in this world determines your final place in the hereafter. Nothing more, nothing less. And you and your family cannot make amends for your sins through prayer after you die. You die, you get judged, and then you get sent to your eternal destination. Period. That's it.

Ghosts Might Haunt You If You Don't Come Visit

Some fear that not visiting and praying for the dead in All Saints Day will cause the ghost of the dead to haunt them. Spirits or souls of the dead cannot come back to earth to haunt us. Ghosts are evil spirits impersonating our dead loved ones. Demons are very familiar with the ways of people, watching them from birth to death. So they can easily impersonate people and make it appear that they have come back from the dead as ghosts. These demons are called familiar spirits.

The only way you can fight ghosts and demons is if the Spirit of Jesus Christ is in you and rules you. It's either you are ruled by the devil or ruled by Jesus Christ. You cannot be neutral. So surrender your life to Jesus Christ fully now, accept him as Savior and Lord, study His Word deeply daily and make his Word your daily life. We can teach you have this as your everyday life through a Jesus style discipleship. If this is your desire, please email us at hisgroup2005@gmail.com.

There was a time when the spirits of Elijah and Moses appeared to Jesus on the mountain of Transfiguration. That was a different case. The disciples Peter, James, and John didn't feel scared and Jesus, the Truth, talked to them as the real persons Elijah and Moses. Can this still happen today?

Yes it can. Nothing is impossible with God. But remember that the spirits of Elijah and Moses were not ghosts to scare Jesus off. They didn't ask for "help" to render them justice or revenge. They were not restless spirits who cannot cross over to the hereafter and are trapped in this world. Those things are a lot of garbage, invented by demon worshipers or those deceived by devils.

Elijah and Moses appeared to Jesus to discuss details of the cross--which was Jesus' glory. God may send a saint from heaven or an angel to discuss about His will and glory to mortal holy servants of God on earth. But this doesn't happen on a regular basis. And it can only happen when Kingdom spirit dimensions are brought over to earth, so that heaven was on earth at the moment, and Jesus, Elijah, and Moses were clad in Kingdom lightning-like apparels and incubated in a dimension outside of earthly realms while on earth.

Ghosts are different. They are demons out to scare and deceive people.

Can you see in the dark? If you can through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, then demons cannot deceive or scare you.

Ghosts and Spirits Roaming Around on All Saints Day

All Saints Day is a celebration of remembering our dearly departed. It's a rich Catholic tradition dating back to the 4th century and was originally held in May and then transferred to November. In the Philippines, this is celebrated with picnic at the cemetery right where the loved one is buried. The picnic is more excitingly held at night.

But, are there really ghosts and spirits roaming around on All Saints Day? Believe it or not, All Saints or no All Saints, ghosts and spirits roam around us and in every nook and cranny. even in crowded and happy places like malls. These "ghosts and spirits" are NOT the spirits of dead people but are really demons and evils spirits. They are everywhere, even in churches--yes, even in Christian churches.

These ghosts and spirits are not afraid of or hurt by crosses or "holy water" or church buildings. For all we know, they might even be using "holy water" for taking a bath, if they do take baths.

As for ghosts and spirits appearing or haunting during All Saints Day, yeah it's possible. Because demons and evil spirits deceive people by scaring them into believing that spirits and souls of dead people come back to earth to live with us again. Dead people cannot come back to live with us again, physically or spiritually. Once you die, you either go straight to heaven or hell. No purgatory. And the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ, the Way, Truth, and Life.

No human soul or spirit can loiter around a while here on earth to be a ghost or spirit. Thus, when you go visit your dead loved ones at the cemetery, their souls are not there waiting for us--though its possible they may be seeing us from where they are--from heaven or hell. This is not impossible if God permits it. But to be sure, they cannot go back to be with us here on earth.

So, the next time you feel a ghost or scary presence at home or anywhere else, All Saints or otherwise, count on it, it's a demon. Angels may also be felt, but the sensation is not fear but assurance.

So, can you see in the dark? I hope now you see this.
