Smoking Ghosts?

My dad loved talking about the follies he and his friends did as teenagers in their hometown in La Union. But he also loves telling true stories. And a number of them were true ghost stories--well, some were true but foolish ghost stories.

Anyway, one night, he and his friends tried smoking cigars. Being too young to be allowed any vice, they agreed to do it at night in a remote place. They decided to meet at 12 midnight at the town cemetery along the national highway near the beach. The cemetery sat on a low hill so that it was higher than the highway. So at 12, they quietly arrived at the specified location in the cemetery, one by one. It was spooky going there alone, he said.

They each had a big cigar and they started to smoke. When you smoke a cigar the tip lights up brighter than would the tip of a cigarette. So it's easily seen from a distance. Now, imagine 10 cigars lighting up like that in a dark cemetery at 12 midnight. 

In their town, people often walked along the highway from San Fernando even at 12 midnight. And it happened! When the folks were passing by the cemetery, they saw strange twinkling lights among the graves! Ghosts! They panicked and ran, crying, "Ghosts!" 

The next morning, the story spread like wildfire in town. Ghosts haunted the cemetery, showing strange lights. Well, that was what the entire town thought, except for 10 young lads--or so they thought.

White Lady in a Classroom

One afternoon, about 5 pm, I was asked to go immediately to check out a weird happening in a classroom. A child in the grade 3 class reported seeing the ghost of a White Lady--and they told me it was still there. So I went to see.


I was the school administrator (I'm a Night Updater now) and we had a mezzanine classroom then. That was where the grade 3 class was located. I saw the child (let's call him Benny) looking so frightened about something he was seeing there which nobody else saw. Another kid (let's call him Brad) was the one Benny said was being followed by the White Lady. It was always behind Brad, Benny claimed.


I saw that both kids were really troubled. They were scared to death. You could see it on their faces. So were their classmates and teacher. If I ignored it, they wouldn't be able to continue their class. Sending them home would put our Christian school to waste--how can a Christian school be useless in helping someone who needed spiritual help? Sending them to a psychiatrist would mean we believed Science more than our great and powerful God! This was clearly a spiritual matter, not medical or psychological.


I looked at Brad but there was no one behind him except his classmates. I stood behind Brad. "Do you see the White Lady?" I asked Benny. "No." I stepped away from Brad. "Do you see the White Lady?" I asked again. "Yes." Then I asked, "Where is it?" Benny replied, "Behind Brad."


Then it happened! I brought Brad closer to Benny and stood beside him. "Where is it now?" I asked. Benny pointed directly to me and said, "Right there, in front of you!" That's when I felt very angry! The nerve of that thing! I felt heat rise from my whole body--I was burning with anger! The I shouted: "I command you, you devil, get out, in Jesus' Name!" 


The students were now crying. The teacher comforted them. I asked Benny: "Where is it now?" He said, "Gone!" But after I seated Brad at his desk and went away from him, Benny pointed to Brad again. "It's there again, Sir!" That's when God told me to take the two students to another room.


In the other room, I noticed that when I stood between Brad and Benny, the ghost was gone. But when I stepped out of Benny's line of sight, it was behind Brad again. I remembered the teacher once saying that both Brad's and Benny's parents were somewhat "proud" about their children's "gifts": Benny was able to see ghosts (what they call having a third eye) while Brad seemed approachable to spirits. 


It was common for both kids to see horrible creatures at home (beheaded priest walking, a dead man out of his coffin and standing somewhere in their house, things like that). And their parents are sometimes proud because of this. They considered it a blessing, a good fortune. So I talked to the kids.


I told Brad and Benny that what they're seeing are demons and that the "gift" they had was evil. God hated such gifts. Anything not from God, God abhorred. Then I asked if they still wanted to keep the gifts. They said no. Was it okay if I got rid of those cursed "gifts" for them, out of their lives? They said yes. I had to have their permission. Rebuking devils from someone not directly under your spiritual covering of protection is not going to work. You have to understand God's principles about this matter. 


Hence, after getting their permissions, I made them close their eyes so I could touch them. Then I talked to God and spiritually took out the "gifts" the devil had placed in the kids. I took out the "third eyes" and threw them into the Pit. All in Jesus' Name. After that, I tested them again, and th White Lady was seen no more, any which angle. Since then, and even years after, the teacher reported seeing the kids with much better aura and peaceful visages. Benny graduated from our grade school and has never since been bothered. 



The bad news was that, their parents took it an offense that I got rid of their kids' special "gifts." But blessed are they who are persecuted because of Jesus Christ!


Can demons and ghosts appear in Christian schools? Yup. And not only appear--many of them live there, and even in Christian churches. I don't care how "Christian" you claim your church or school is. In Jesus' time demons lived quietly in synagogues. Satan was even in Peter, so the Master had to rebuke the devil from him. 



Calling a building "Christian" does not work in the spirit realms. Many Christians (even pastors) are ignorant of this because they know nothing about genuine spiritual warfare. All they know is how to make good programs and activities on Sundays. People should genuinely repent of sins and dedicate their whole lives to Jesus. Then devils and White Ladies and ghosts flee from you and your house or building. So, wannabe a bold Night Updater?

The Case of the Cooking Ghost

The case of the cooking ghost is among popular incidents narrated in spooky folklores. Cooking ghosts?

Lara woke up one very early morning (while it was still dark) and heard someone cooking in the kitchen--the sound of frying was unmistakable. She thought that one of their helpers had awaken early and started cooking breakfast. So she got up and asked a helper sitting at the dining table. But to her surprise, the helper said she had not started any cooking, and neither had anyone!

Then it happened! The helpers all chorused that they had been hearing the frying, too, but that they opted not to pay attention because they were too scared to do so! If they did, they were afraid they might indeed see something! They simply tried to think someone from the close by neighbors was  up early and cooking. But Lara swore she heard the cooking at their own kitchen. The helpers also reported feeling the footsteps of someone at lunch time when no one else was around. 

Moreover, the smell of cigarette smoke was being observed by others in the house--in the comfort room or in the maids' quarters. About this, Lara was more certain that probably, one of the maids was into smoking and doing it secretly. Other people opined that it was probably a horrific creature the locals called "kapre" or a giant evil spiritual creature that's fond of smoking. 

Any of the above could be correct. About the kapre, fallen angels, once looking beautiful, were cursed with horrendous appearances. Night Updater believes evil creatures like that are part of the fallen angels. 

As of this writing, Lara and her household are still observing the strange occurrences and updating the Night Updater about them. The world is full of odd things and events largely rooted in the spiritual realms.

Night Updater: The Case of the Spooky Bell

Mary's grandma had been bedridden for years, and very rarely did she visit her in her room which was just at the back of the house of Mary's family. Mary was very busy with her college course, which was Medical Technology, and was out of the house from sunrise to sunset. It was a recipe for a Night Updater case.

Grandma had a bell she used for attracting attention when she needed something. Whenever it went "cling! cling!" the person nearest her should run the errand. Mary never had that chance. Grandma kept the bell on the small table bedside her bed. 

The grandma died. She had been taken to a hospital for some abdominal pains which turned out to be fatal, but which the doctors had thought best to be kept secret from the family. Thus, when grandma died, Mary was shocked. She didn't see it coming. She had planned on making up for the times she missed serving her grandma, but that plan hadn't any chance of materializing now that grandma died.

Then it happened! One dawn, when the sun was still hiding in the horizon, Mary was preparing to go to school. Grandma's remains was in a church chapel in the other village nearby. Suddenly, she heard the sound of grandma's bell ringing in the distance. It was coming from the house where grandma used to stay. Already too scared to move a muscle, the worse thing happened. 

She heard the sound of the bell coming nearer to her room! It was as if the bell was held by someone walking toward their house across from her grandma's, crossing the yard, entered the locked back door, proceeded to the corridor, went through the door of her room, and then the sound stopped right beside her! To her mind it meant only one thing--whoever or whatever was holding the "spiritual" bell (because she didn't see any actual bell) was now standing right beside her. She could do nothing but cry.
